Senior Portraits That Feel Like You
When it comes to senior portraits, today’s students want images that feel creative, authentic, and personal—something that reflects who they are in this moment, not just a stiff smile for the yearbook. That’s exactly what we create at Shot Group Photography.
Whether you're into polished studio looks or colorful, magazine-style outdoor portraits, we guide you through a luxury experience designed to help you feel confident, look incredible, and walk away with portraits that actually mean something to you and your family.
The Problem: A Portrait Experience That Doesn’t Feel Personal
Too many senior portraits feel impersonal, overly posed, or generic. Students feel awkward, parents feel underwhelmed, and nobody wants to hang the photos on the wall. We solve that by getting to know every client before we ever lift the camera.
The Solution: A Fully-Guided, Personalized, Photo Session
We design each session to be a true collaboration. Here's how it works:
1. The Planning Session
We start with a one-on-one consultation where we get to know the student and their family. What are they into? How do they want to be remembered? We talk through location ideas, walk through our extensive wardrobe options in the Client Closet, and schedule the session. We also offer professional hair and makeup services right in the studio (for an additional charge), making it easy to arrive confident and camera-ready.
2. The Portrait Session
This is where the creativity shines. We typically begin in the studio, using sculpted lighting and expert posing guidance to create stunning fine art portraits. Then, if you’d like, we head on location for a second look—just like we did with Ashley, who started in our studio and then moved to downtown Colorado Springs at the Olympic Museum.
For Ashley’s location shoot, we tried something different: working in full sun. Harsh light, high contrast, and bold color created a fun, editorial style inspired by the nostalgic look of 90s music and skate magazines. The results? Unexpected, vibrant, and authentic—a style many seniors are now asking for.
And no worries if you're not used to being in front of a camera—we guide you through every step: posing, expressions, wardrobe styling, and lighting. Whether it’s a soft studio shot in our floral green dress or a bold urban look in sunlight, we make it easy to look and feel amazing.
3. The Selection Appointment
A week or two after your session, you’ll return to the studio for your Selection Appointment. We’ll show you the best images from your session (already culled and lightly prepped), and you’ll choose your favorites for editing. It’s also when we help you decide how you'd like to enjoy your portraits.
Whether you're dreaming of dramatic wall art (on canvas, metal, or acrylic), an imported folio box from Ireland, or a custom leather-bound album, we walk you through it all—so you leave with heirloom pieces you’ll treasure for years.
The Result: Artwork That Tells Your Story
You won’t just walk away with photos. You’ll walk away with a legacy—images that celebrate this time in your life, your personality, your creativity, and your confidence. Something your parents will be proud to hang, and something you’ll be proud to look back on.
